Crispy Anchovy Pizza
Mozzarella and Onions
A bold, savory anchovy pizza featuring melted mozzarella, onions, and green peppers on a partially baked crust, balancing intense umami with melty cheese.
Anchovy pizza is known as the durian of the pizza world; people either love it or cant stand it. Out of curiosity, I decided to try making it myself. When heated, salted anchovies melt into the cheese and sauce to release a wonderful savory depth and aroma.
Ingredients
- 1 can flat anchovies in pure olive oil
- 1 can store-bought pizza dough
- 1 cup pizza marinara sauce
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 onion
- 1 green pepper
Instructions
- 1Open the anchovies

Take a can of flat anchovies in pure olive oil and prepare them for use along with your other ingredients like marinara sauce, canned pizza dough, mozzarella cheese, onions, and green peppers.
Tip: Keep the ingredients close at hand for a smooth and efficient assembly process. - 2Unroll the pizza dough

Take a can of store-bought pizza dough, let it sit at room temperature briefly, and tear it open so it pops open automatically. Unroll the soft dough onto a sheet of parchment paper.
Tip: Letting the canned dough rest briefly at room temperature makes it much easier to unroll and stretch. - 3Stretch and dock the dough

Stretch the soft pizza dough slightly to your desired thickness across the parchment paper. Use a fork to pierce small holes evenly across the surface of the dough to prevent bubbling during baking.
Tip: Docking the dough with a fork ensures an even, flat crust as it bakes. - 4Bake the crust partially

Place the prepared pizza dough on a baking sheet directly into the preheated oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit (230 degrees Celsius) and bake for 8 minutes until slightly browned.
Tip: Preheating the baking sheet inside the oven helps achieve a crispier crust.
