Brie Stuffed Figs
A sophisticated appetizer pairing the natural sweetness of fresh figs with creamy Brie, savory ham, and a hint of honey. Elegant, quick, and perfectly balanced.
These stuffed figs make for a beautiful and elevated appetizer that highlights the contrast between sweet and savory flavors. The creaminess of Brie cheese beautifully complements the richness of cured ham, while a final touch of honey and fresh rosemary rounds out the dish. It is a simple yet impressive preparation that works perfectly for intimate gatherings or a high-class snack.
Ingredients
- 8-10 fresh figs
- 150 g Brie cheese
- 4-5 slices cured ham
- 3 tbsp crushed nuts, such as walnuts or pecans
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 sprig fresh rosemary
- 1 tsp fresh lemon zest
Instructions
- 1Prepare the figs

Take your fresh figs and gently cut a cross shape into the top of each one, being careful not to slice all the way through to the base. This creates a perfect opening for your fillings.
Tip: Keep the figs upright while cutting to ensure a clean, stable opening. - 2Slice the Brie

Take a wheel or wedge of Brie cheese and cut it into thick, manageable slices. These pieces should be sized appropriately to fit into the cross-cut openings you made in the figs.
Tip: If the Brie is too soft to cut, chill it in the refrigerator for 15 minutes to make slicing easier. - 3Stuff the figs

Arrange your prepared figs in a baking dish. Carefully insert a thick slice of Brie cheese into the center of each fig, pushing it gently into the cross-shaped cut.
Tip: Use a small knife or your fingers to slightly widen the opening if the cheese is a tight fit. - 4Add the nuts

Once all the figs are stuffed with Brie, take a handful of crushed nuts and sprinkle them generously over the top of the figs. This adds a wonderful texture and nutty flavor to the dish.
Tip: Walnuts or pecans work particularly well for this recipe. - 5Add ham and rosemary

Place a small piece of ham on top of each stuffed fig. Then, tuck a sprig of fresh rosemary into the filling to infuse the dish with aromatic, savory notes during the baking process.
Tip: Use high-quality cured ham for the best flavor balance with the sweet figs. - 6Add lemon zest and finish

Using a zester, grate some fresh lemon zest directly over the assembled figs in the baking dish. Finally, drizzle a little honey over everything before placing it in the oven.
Tip: Only zest the bright yellow part of the lemon peel; avoid the bitter white pith. - 7Drizzle with honey

Using a small spoon or the honey dispenser, gently drizzle a light coating of honey over the stuffed figs and garnishes. This adds a subtle sweetness that balances the saltiness of the ham and the creaminess of the Brie cheese.
Tip: For an even coating, drizzle in a zigzag motion over all the figs at once. - 8Bake the stuffed figs

Carefully place the prepared baking dish into the preheated oven at 175 degrees. Bake for 5-10 minutes, or until the Brie is soft and melting and the ham is slightly warmed. Watch closely to ensure the rosemary does not burn.
Tip: Keep the baking dish on the middle rack for even heat distribution and perfect melting.
